The Jaydoc Community Clinic (JCC) was founded and is operated by KU medical students.  The clinic is run in cooperation with the KUSM-W Department of Family and Community Medicine and Guadalupe Clinic. 

The clinic operates at Guadalupe Clinic, which is located at 940 S. St. Francis, on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We offer health care to uninsured and underinsured patients.  Each patient is checked in by an undergraduate pre-medical student volunteer from one of the area colleges.  A medical student then performs a history and physical exam.  Finally, the medical student consults with the physician to determine a plan of care.  We average around 15-20 patients per day.

For the clinic to function, we need one licensed volunteer-physician each week.

The community attending and residents oversee third and fourth-year medical students in the delivery of healthcare. Those physicians are responsible for overseeing the patient's care during the clinic visit.  This includes seeing each patient before he/she leaves the clinic and signing off on all patient medical records.  The physician is not be responsible for patient care follow-up. 

We ask that the physician to arrive at the clinic at 9:50 a.m. and have a quick orientation to the clinic with one of our Executive Directors before patients have been seen by students. Also, while we plan to finish seeing patients by 2:00 p.m. every Saturday, please allow an extra hour in case we have some complicating factors that prevent us from leaving on time.  Volunteering physicians have malpractice benefits as “charitable health care providers” under Kansas tort laws for this activity.  Any resident physician that volunteers must have the ability to moonlight in order to volunteer at the Jaydoc Community Clinic.

For those of you who would like to contribute to this project in a different way, we also have a need for pharmaceutical samples to give to patients.  If you would like to partner with us in this endeavor in either context, please contact us by email at jcc@kumc.edu to let us know which Saturdays you are available and/or what medications you are able to donate to the clinic.
